Thank you, Hillbilly. I was waiting for someone to clarify this mystery. I will now begin ferreting out a copy of "Getting Drunk With Bill". I will keep it on my bookshelf next to my copy of "Diary of a Drug Fiend" by Aleister Crowley.

This is a photo of Dr. Zachariah Holcombe taken a couple of years ago on the campus of Carolina Southen University where he's chairman emeritus of the English Department. Dr. Holcombe is an internationally recognized authority on the southern gothic novel, was once married to Eudora Welty, and was William Faulkner's roommate when they were undergraduates together at Old Miss. His "Getting Drunk with Bill," which details the almost legendary drinking bouts the two engaged in, is considered a minor classic and an invaluable contribution to Faulknerian studies.
