I know all that Rooty, and I did register my username Connie...about two years ago. At that time, premium users did not pay.

Connie: if one is a premium user ( c. $5 a month : power of + 3 or -3 votes , ability to see pics full-size ) one must register to be able to do those things. Also, if you're registered someone else can't come along and post comments or photos using your name.

I should provide more information. I originally started to post with the username Diane. I posted just a few photos. Then I clicked 'log out' as I was not planning to post anymore. When I tried to get back in, it would not work. The message was that the name was already registered (I had not registered Diane) So, I started again with the name 'Connie', but again did not register it. Someone, who must have gone on my home page, suggested I register the name, or someone might register it and take the photos I had posted. I tried but it wanted an e-mail address, so I wrote the comment that I would not do so because of that, and I didn't care if someone registered the name and take it. When I wanted to leave messages of re-post under the username 'police' and one other, a friend showed me how (I'm computer illiterate). But, I don't understand why you folks log in...I get the impression you 'log in' everytime you get on the site. Am I correct? If so, what is the purpose. Another mystery I have, and nobody has ever responded to my questions about it: I know for sure I do not see all the photos posted on this site. I often see them under the 'Recently commented' or even 'similar pics for you'. Does this happen to you?

Happy Jack - As I said before on this page, I don't log in when I come on this site. I type 'Pixdaus' on Google...click on the Pixdaus file...then click on 'Newly Added' and voila I'm there. I would have originally logged in and registered my name.

Many thanks for your comment, Happy Jack. I guess if Pixdaus allows this to happen, then it is probably ok to do that. If not, then they would make sure that this couldn't be done somehow. I could never use another computer and vote up or down my posts. I could never do the wrong thing. I just wouldn't feel right about it. I think that Pixdaus should take a long, hard look at how the voting system presents itself here and then maybe all these accusationa against other posters cheating will stop I really hope one day this will happen.... :).

Picture Girl, I believe that almost everybody does it. The procedure is simple and straightforward. It is no different than having your spouse or child get on your computer and vote for your photo. PIXDAUS WILL ONLY SAY 'NOT ALLOWED' IF YOU VOTE FOR THE PHOTO WHEN LOGGED IN UNDER THE NAME YOU POSTED WITH. So, if you are logged in, on the same computer, with a different name (or not logged in at all) it is apparently allowed. Using the same computer, you can only do this one time, no matter how many names you log in under. So +1 (for me) or +3 (for premium users) is the maximum advantage. What bothers me is the way that some users upvote their own photos (and comments) by +10, +20 or greater. Very recently their was a photo that was uploaded by more than +100. I have no idea how this was accomplished, however 'Jack Sparrow' did make a comment that he knew how to do this and thought that everybody else did as well. He went on to state that a former 'user', 'ultrasonic', was did this to the extreme.

I thought that upvoting one's own photo is a no-no. When you click on the button for one's own photo, it says, 'Not allowed'. If it's not allowed, it's not the correct procedure to follow, simple as that....

Very interesting, within a few minutes of posting the above comments, I checked and found that six photos that I uploaded today had all been downvoted. I should learn to keep my mouth shut and not comment, or to use an alternative name for commenting as many others do.
2010-12-20 14:36:21
Upvoting your own photos is easy to accomplish and one of the first things I learned on this site. I upvote mine and assume that everybody else (perhaps Connie excepted) does theirs. It only seems right that I upvote my own photos when others are doing the same. The one thing that I never do is to downvote anything unless it is really distasteful or politically oriented. Like poppy explained, it is just a matter of not logging in with your name before you vote, and then go ahead and give your photo a single vote. In the new format, if Pixdaus ever releases it, I would hope that they would just provide for upvoting your own photos and to eliminate downvoting altogether. By upvoting your own photos I am referring to a single upvote (+1 for me) or for premium users (+3). Any upvote of more than this MUST be prevented. I say this because it is very evident that some users have found a way to do this.

Calling Americans illiterate when you can't even spell "actually"? How does this work?
2009-02-23 07:13:36
What do you mean you're not logged in? You're writing these comments under connie, aren't you? At the top of the page it should give you voting power as 3 and then your rating (whatever that is). Click 'sign out'. Then you're logged out, no longer connie and your voting power is 1. Click yourself to Newly Posted, find your own pic and try voting. The photo search does not work, so just post your pics and don't worry.

Don't log in? I never log in, yet I couldn't vote for me. Do you mean to say that you log in everytime you get on the site? I'm more confused that ever. Also, Poppy, can you key in words on 'Search photos'? I still can't; I sent 2 emails to Pixdaus about that and never got a reply. Now I'm a little concerned about posting photos, because I can't check to see if the photo was already posted.

Of course I have the 'right'to say anything I want, and believe me, I do! I am not going to start looking for the pics under which I yelled at jchip8 just to prove it to you that I have done it. I have changed my tactics somewhat recently in that I just take care of my own business as far as my conscience lets me, but if one of my friends gets stepped on, I'm off to a new war. And if someone steps on me, I'm off to a new war. I don't have the patience or the time for endless repetitions on the subjects on which I have made it painfully clear to everyone as to where I stand. I feel that I have to let you out of your misery: Connie cannot vote for Connie's pics, that's true. Don't log in, and then of course you have one vote, which works on your pics as well as anyone else's. Everyone knows this. Now, at least. ;-)

Since I came on the site over a year ago, I don't recall (not saying you didn't) you ever criticising jchip8, but Artemis many times. I agree that you have not criticized her in a long time. But, if you feel she is cheating, I think you have a right to say so. But, I can't figure out how someone can upvote their photos. To find out, I tried to vote for one of my photos, and I got the message that I can't do that.
2009-02-23 04:27:19
Connie, I had a 'go' at jchip8 a long time ago about the issue of posting other posters' pics on the same day! It made no difference whatsoever, and I see no point in going on about it over and over. You are saying that I am very critical of artemis for upvoting her photos. Correction: I fought a big war over it and - again - it led nowhere so I am no longer writing about it. Some types are so centred on the 'daily race' that they do not care what they do and how they get to the top, but we're powerless to stop them. I don't intend to carry on wars that I have already lost. My comment above was NOT in defence of jchip8 but against the bad language of dec's.
2009-02-23 04:07:36
To others: Please, ignore the American. Most of them are illiterate (which is a good thing, since they don't post), but some can actualy type a few of their favorite words. The result you see above...
2009-02-21 07:41:19
Poppy, I agree about the language. But, I think what Dec means by 'work' is the work posters do to look on the internet to find photos to post. Dec can correct me if I'm wrong with his meaning. Jchip8 is notorious for re-posting photos -sometimes right after someone posted his/hers. You do not criticize jchip8 for what he/she is doing;; yet, you're very critical of Artemis for upvoting her photos. If he/she is really doing that, then it's cheating. What Jchip8 is doing is also cheating, PLUS he or she is also stealing the 'work' of others. It feels like a double standard to me.
2009-02-21 05:42:01
Pretty one, jchip8. Once again a good example that slavery still exists !!! ;-) (security measure).
2009-02-21 05:24:30
Gosh Dec, easy on! It would be alot worse if we couldnt post random amazing pics by great photographers. Its just a photo sharing site not a competition
2009-02-21 05:13:31
Mm. I really wish this site had a posted-already-check...
2009-02-21 04:35:24
Dec: leave the foul language out of here... You can get your point across just as well in 'normal' language. ;-) P.S. We posters have no "work" here, we merely post other people's artwork.
2009-02-21 03:32:33
yeah you fuck head, lookin for credit for other peoples work you CUNT
