If you think racism is dead and buried in this country you are extremely naive and have led a very sheltered life. I don't know what part of the country you live in but I can guarantee you that down south the woods are still full of redneck, nigger-hatin' crackers. Segregation is not ancient history...five hundred years of slavery and institutionalised discrimination are not going to be erased in a couple of generations, and it is VERY important to remind people of the roots of many of our present social problems. Wake up, kid...this struggle is far from over.

g greitl - When I did my little photo series on slavery and segregation, it was never meant to offend. Americans can not be blamed for what happened in the past. It's what happens today that is very important. To know the past is to help the younger generation prevent the same mistakes. I did not mean to create a trend, and I'm sure EmilyDawn2 meant well. There is not a country on this planet that does not bear shame for something or other. I enjoy taking photos that have the same or similar theme and post them together. I do not select a group of people or a country to purposely offend. I did a series on Canada's lack of preparedness for war - very true and great fodder for Canadian comediens. I don't get much votes, if any, but I hope I bring a smile or chuckle to someone. But, I don't want to just do 'fluff stuff'. It's sometime good to stir the pot; it encourages debate which I turn can be very informative and interesting.

This happened before most of us were born and most of those who did live during that time didn't like it either. Please stop ripping open old scars and hurting people who had nothing to do with it and perpetuating the hatred. humanity has ugliness in every race and walk of life. Punishing people who had no part in racism, is no better than racism itself. It's all hate.
