Did I forget to mention Canada's role in the United Nations? In 1956, Canada won worldwide recognition for its diplomatic efforts when Britain, France, and Israel attempted to prevent Egypt from seizing control of the Suez Canal. Canada's Minister for External Affairs at the time (who became Prime Minister), Lester B. Pearson, proposed the formation and deployment of a United Nations peacekeeping force to “secure and supervise the cessation of hostilities.” A Canadian General, E.L.M. Burns, who had been commanding the UN Truce Supervision Organization in Palestine, was named commander of the first United Nations peacekeeping force. Pearson was awarded the 1957 Nobel Peace Prize for his vision, wisdom, perseverance and skillful success in establishing an international police force to resolve the 1956 Suez Crisis. Cited as the UN’s first designated peacekeeping mission, the Suez Crisis saw the inception of the first United Nations Emergency Force (UNEF). From the Pacific to the Atlantic we shine ;-)

Wow!! I didn't realize how great we were. I always thought we were just a bunch of hozers and mooseheads. I will now stand and sing Oh Canada - our national anthem... doing the American way - with my right hand over my heart and a huge flag behind me. O Canada! Our home and native land! True patriot love in all thy sons command. With glowing hearts we see thee rise, The True North strong and free! From far and wide, O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. God keep our land glorious and free! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. GOD BLESS CANADA!!!

Connie is not bragging. In fact she's being very modest ( typical Canadian ) since she failed to mention that although most people don't realize it Canadians also invented the riding lawnmower, the electric hairdryer, the ribbed condom, the airplane, the steam engine, the typewriter, movie cameras, bath tubs, bubble gum, comic books, algebra, nylon stockings, fish bait, barbecue, pillow cases, the outboard motor, flush toilets, the alphabet, water skis, tubeless tires, rim jobs, chocolate cake, corn bread, meat loaf, cheeseburgers, potato chips pantyhose, chap stick, paper clips and the flashlight. Also, the first person ever to have successfully drawn to an inside straight was a Canadian.

You've said that before patito, and you are technically correct in that Canada is in the American Continent. . A Brit, French, Italian, croatian etc. are all Europeans but they don't say they are European; ; they say they are British, French...... Unfortunately, you folks who live between Canada and Mexico (North America), don't have a 'real' name. Should you be called United Staters? The name United States - now that's meaningless. How about if Canada was called United Provinces? Isn't that silly? It's a real shame, yes indeed. I strongly suggest y'all petition Washington to get a 'real' name like the rest of us. You're all grown up, you have the right to your very own name. Jus jossing you PS - You haven't callenged any of the points above. I'm disappointed.

What we have to be proud of: 1. Smarties (not sold in the USA) 2. Crispy Crunch, Coffee Crips (not sold in the USA) 3. The size of our football fields, one less down, and bigger balls 4. Baseball is Canadian – 1st game June 4, 1838 in Ingersoll, Ontario 5. Lacrosse is Canadian 6. Hockey is Canadian 7. Basketball is Canadian 8. Apple pie is Canadian (it’s true, so stop yelling at me) 9. Mr. Dress-up beats Mr. Rogers 10. Tim Horton’s beats Dunkin’ Donuts 11. In the war of 1812, STARTED by the USA, Canadians pushed the Americans back past their White House. Then we burned it, and most of Washington … We got bored because they ran away. Then, we CAME home and partied. Go figure. 12. Canada has the largest French population that NEVER SURRENDERED to Germany. 13. We have the largest English population that never EVER SURRENDERED or withdrew during any war to anyone, anywhere, EVER! (We got clobbered in the odd battle but prevailed in ALL the wars) 14. Our civil war was fought in a bar and lasted a little over an hour. 15. The only person who was arrested in our civil war was an American mercenary; he slept in and missed the whole thing. He showed up just in time to get caught. 16. A Canadian invented Standard Time. 17. The Hudson’s Bay Company once owed over 10% of the earth’s surface and is still around as the world’s oldest company. 18. The average dog sled team can kill and devour a full grown human in under 3 minutes. (That’s more information than I need!) 19. We know what to do with the parts of a buffalo. 20. We don’t marry our kin-folk… 21. We invented skidoos, jet skis, Velcro, zippers, insulin, penicillin and the telephone; also, short wave radios which save countless lives each year. 22. We have ALL frozen our tongues to something metal and lived to tell about it. (I can attest to that) 23. A Canadian invented Superman 24. We have coloured money 25. Our beer advertisement kick ass (incidentally… so does our beer) BUT MOST IMPORTANT – the handles on our beer cases are big enough to fit your hands in with mitts on. OOOoohhhhh…..Canada !! Oh yeah… And our elections only take one day! (eat your hearts out Americans)
