By '87, when this was done, poor Vincent was pretty far gone 'round the bend, in and out of mental hospitals..his friendship with Gauguin probably didn't help matters, since Gauguin was a bit unhinged himself.. the business with the ear occurred the following year, in '88...in fact, it may have been Gauguin who sliced off Vincent's left earlobe ( not the whole ear as is popularly believed ) ...two years after that, in 1890, at the age of 37, Van Gogh took his own life by shooting himself with a pistol...a very unhappy, tortured soul, but one who gave the world a great gift...

One may have a blazing hearth in one's soul and yet no one ever comes to sit by it. Passersby see only a wisp of smoke from the chimney and continue on the way. --Vincent Van Gogh

I friend sent me a powerpoint thingy that showed all Van Gogh's photos while a person was singing that song. It was fantastic.

Every time I see Vincent, I think of that song Vincent, it was such a nice tribute to him. here's some parts I remember... colors changing hue, screaming flowers that brightly blaze, swirling clouds in violet haze, reflect in Vincent's eye's that shine of blue.. Now I understand what you tried to say, and how you suffered for your sanity, and how you tried to set them free ...they wouldn't listen they did not know how.. perhaps they'll listen now.
