I believe War Between the States is more descriptively accurate.That's the term my grandparents used.In fact, we aggressed the Yankees about as much as they aggressed us, and we did fire the first shot.

Yup...the attack on Ft. Sumpter was in April of '61...but actually, there had been fighting between partisans out in Missouri anmd Kansas as early as the late 1850's...and down here we prefer to call it The War Between the States..

You might want to check your dates there BellCurve... The U.S. Civil war was fought between 1861 and 1865.
