King Of Sports is not baseball, is ladies synchronised swimming, as anyone with an education above 8 grade could tell Mr Patito Head.

I'm not saying football (american) is, or baseball isn't the king of sports, but it DOES take courage to hang onto a pigskin and try to sneak it by the likes of Ray Lewis... I don't know for sure, but I think i'd probably rather be hit by a 90 mph object weighing 5.25oz than a 15mph object that weighs 250 lbs. can someone do the math and compare the impact force of each of these? Thanks!

One of the reasons for soccer's popularity world wide is that all you need to play it is a reasonably flat place and a ball..no special equipment or protective gear is required..and the reason football has more fans than baseball here in the US is because it's easier to play it well ( less precise fine motor skills required ) and because it's a simpler game, strategically, compared to baseball and threfore easier to follow and understand...and their is nothing in either football or soccer that requires the degree of sheer guts that it takes to stand at the plate and watch a ninety mile an hour fast ball sail past your nose... I would be interested in hearing about how often batters are struck by pitches in crickett...

Baseball, king of sports because of physical courage?? bwah ha ha ha ha ha!!!! ever hear of AIR RACING?? 400 mph 6-8g's of force the physical and mental strength to controll a 10,000 pound aircraft and that anoying little thing called death!! no really your statement doe's warrent criticism patito.

It really depends on your choice of measure. From the perspective of spectators/fans football(soccer) is surely number one the world over. Cricket is also very high as is tennis. Even in the United States, glib statements of "America's pastime" aside, American Football has far more fans than baseball.

159KPH = 98MPH Balls are similar in size and construction to baseballs, though cricket balls are just slightly larger and heavier. They are also harder and much more expensive with typical match grade balls selling for over $100 each.

Well, Bub...if you think it ain't so, make your case..
2008-05-30 22:30:03
Nope..only saw it played once...some medical students from Pakistan..looked like fun, though, and maybe a first cousin to baseball...what's the top speed of a good fastball in crickett?

Thanks. Your opinion is always appreciated. I always wondered which sport was the king. Now I know...patito said it, now I know.

"imaging" was supposed to be imagine. What difference a letter makes.
2008-05-30 21:43:58
King of Sports? Can't imaging a consensus on that statement. As for courage, ever played cricket?
2008-05-30 21:10:31
This is why it take more physical courage to play baseball than any other team sport played with a ball, with the possible exception of jai lai....that, along with the degree of skill and finesse required, and the strategic/statistical dimension of the game, is why baseball is the King of Sports.
