P.S. Cancel the drumroll, and I'll exit by the side door.

The other odd thing is the ice bag (or whatever) on his head- difficult to tell exactly what we're looking at. It's also worth noting that the boots look like they're permanently fixed to the saddle unlike Reagan's high boots- possibly standard tack rather than personal gear. 'Night all. -- MarkMLl

Thank you, Mark, you appear to be right about Sergeant York. The Wiki picture did not show the legs, pity.

Kennedy's boots were black, these are brown.

Maybe Gerald Ford ?

Although I do not see the difference between this horse and Blackjack, but on closer examination I see the clothing is unlikely to have worked for a November funeral.

I can not say, though I take your point. I can not think of any other, more recent, funeral that would be accorded this honor. IMO those are definitely Americans.

I am impressed Anne!

Not John Kennedy, because the horse is not Blackjack, the most famous riderless horse (died in 1976). He was the horse also in the funeral processions of Douglas MacArthur, Herbert Hoover and Lyndon Johnson. Seargent York was the riderless horse in Reagan's funeral parade, and this is not he, either. I may not know much about people, but horses I know. Drumroll, and exit.

I think this was after JFK. He was buried November 25th, 1963, IIRC. These people are wearing more modern shorts and T shirts.

A fallen leader, in military tradition. In this case John F. Kennedy.

The horse has a war wound on his rump, poor thing.

Traditional for a dead cavalryman.

The Invisible Man forgot to take off his boots.
