During WWII the British bombing at night had a CEP of 5 miles, half of the bombs fell within 5 miles of the target and half fell farther away. That is why they used area bombing instead of precision bombing.

Looks like WW II recon shot...critics should remember these guys didn't have Google Earth...they were often flying at night while being shot at...and no smart bombs...not a lot of precision, so they had to drop a lot of bombs in the area of targets..drop a hundred bombs, maybe eight or ten will actually hit the bridge, the railroad yard or the ball-bearing plant..

Whoever they are, they're a terrible shot. Just about all of them landed in an open field. ;-)
