Patito knows his doves all right... they are notoriously bad builders of nests. I find one or two nests every year, and when you look at them from underneath, you can see through them. Sometimes one wonders why the eggs don't fall out... but they never seem to.

They do, don't they.....but doves are known to build the flimsiest of nests..and some sense of scale may be had by comparing the eggs to what appear to be parts of bougainvillea flowers..that plant would be a good nesting site because the stems have lots of stickers..also, the colored parts of bougainvillea are actually bracts...the flowers are tiny little yellow things surrounded by the colorful bracts....
