In the early 1950S Quaker Puffed Wheat and Quaker Puffed Rice, which were "Shot from guns!", sponsored radio hero Sgt. Preston of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and his faithful dog Yukon King. For a box top and either twenty five or fifty cents one got a deed to one square inch of the Yukon Territory. A search of my safety deposit box failed to yield mine. What would be the legal result if one were to present one of these deeds today. One would likely learn that the property had been forfeited for failure to pay property taxes.

Two dollars a square inch works out to over 12 million bucks an acre..pretty pricey for ranch land...but a real bargain compared to what real estate goes for in some of the world's cities..if my math is correct $2 a sq. inch would be a little over $3,000 a sq. meter...in Monte Carlo prime real estate ( there's really no other kind in Monte Carlo ) goes for well over $45,000 a sq. meter...average price in London or Moscow is about $20,000 a sq. meter....makes New York City look like a steal at an average of around $15,000 per sq. meter...all of which proves the truth of the old adage about the three most important things to consider when buying real estate..

Is this for real? I wonder how many people own these still? What if someone had that one square inch in a place where they were building a multimillion dollar development?
