They're not extinct..just rare and elusive..most people have never seen one in the wild..

there's a stuffed jackelope in every other roadside restaurant, that's why they're extinct.

Yeah, they are pretty strange critters..used to be fairly common, but don't see many of 'em anymore..best time and place to see a male (the ones that actually have horns) is way out in West Texas or Eastern New Mexico, between about 1 and 4 in the morning, when you've been driving for maybe 18 or 20 hours without a nap. Then you'll start to see 'em dartin' across the road.

I saw a stuffed jackalope in a restaurant in Dever. Weird animal. Had a great buffalo burger!

Sorry, but that isn't a hare. It's a female jackalope. Only the males have horns.
