Also, the man in the painting wasn't even actually a farmer..he was Wood's dentist. I promise I ain't makin' this up.

Uuuhh, Lilly..my dear...I don't believe Checkerz meant the TV show..he/she was referring to a painting by an American artist named Grant Wood, who worked in Iowa back in the 1920's and 30's ..his best-known work was titled American Gothic, in which a dour and sober-looking couple stand in front of a farm house, the man holding a pitch fork..most folks assume they are husband and wife, and the painting is frequently cited as evidence for the belief that old married couples eventually begin to resemble one another, but in fact the models were brother and sister...
