Description:This baby echidna was found on a trail near Sydney and turned into the Taronga Zoo. It is estimated to be about 30 days old. Echidna puggles are not weaned until several months old. However their mothers do not have teats, so they feed from 'milk spots' on the mother's body. This baby will have to be hand-fed for at least a few months by allowing it to suck up 'milk spots' on the handler's hand. Echidnas, like kangaroos, are marsupials.
