Our old friend Mat is apparently afflicted by a virulent form of emotional constriction and a severe case of galloping intellectual constipation ...this syndrome is fairly common and typically manifests itself by causing the patient to repeat some simple and meaningless phrase over and over...although annoying the condition is not contagious..

This is the liberal dream, isn't it. That's because liberalism is a mental disorder.

don't we get enough of this depressing shit? we need to stop thinking of ourselves as unnatural and start accepting that we are as much a part of this natural world as everything else. we are new here. we will eventually find our balance as long as we ignore the pessimists who say we don't belong here

OK, you first! Actually if you could go back in time 75 years ago you would see that the US is much cleaner now. Oh wait you can, go visit China. Check out all of that blue sky!

Some of the above also assumes that the livestock that man raises would suddenly disappear. Granted, the majority would die off fairly quickly as it is raised in very controlled industrial conditions. Ruminants like cattle which are free-ranged would continue to produce quite a bit of methane and CO2. BTW, if "we" were suddenly gone, likely as not whatever took us out would take out a lot of other creatures on earth. In the final analysis, who would be here to care? Seriously, although evaluating man's effect on the environment is worthwhile, if he were suddenly wiped out - what mind (other than God's) would be here to contemplate either the loss or the "victory" of man's removal? It's more appropriate to look at how rapidly we have changed our world during the industrial age and see how we can mitigate global effects and bring a more reasonable balance to our existence in nature.

methane won't disappear as long as foliage persists - during night, plants produce carbon dioxyde and methane

Dear Mitch Graves! You know the Joker from the actual Batman movie? WHY SO SERIOUS??? This is just a little fun pic. If you don't like it, than close your eyes (and you'll see the people who think you are funny). Best regards, Gripweed
