The Billy Goat Curse was placed on the Chicago Cubs in 1945 by a man named Billy Sianis, owner of a bar called the Billy Goat Tavern, when he and his goat, whose name was Murphy, were ejected from Wrigley Field after other fans complained about the goat's aroma. The curse has been interpreted to mean there will never be another World Series game won at Wrigley Field. And in fact no other team in major league history has gone longer without winning a pennant or a world series than the Chicago Cubs.
