Don't say 'sorry' - I don't care about reposts of my pics if they're not recent, like from today or yesterday... Except, of course, when a twerp like FBI posted nothing BUT my pics.

Mojave to non taggers? Are you speaking American English again A Bouts?
2009-06-13 14:32:45
God, I'm getting confused. I mean to write that the original search was done under 'seal', this recent search was done under 'otter'. In neither case did it pop up. I found a lot of my photos in blogs or other places (not the photographers' sites), so the person who said it was a seal might not have been the photographer.

This is a response to A Bouts' comment. Even the comments section has problems. Also, I did the search on 'seal' not 'otter'; it might have popped up.

You mean this one is also a repost? Is it yours? If so, sorry again.

Indirectly. The government in British Columbia has the monopoly on auto insurance. The crown agency is called Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC). In the US and other provinces of Canada, the private insurance companies and claimants can both be very greedy and very unfair. Insurance premiums and settlements are very high in the US. However, in Canada the premiums are not as high as in the States because the portion of the settlement (in 3 parts) called 'pain and suffering' has a ceiling decided by the Supreme Court of Canada (at this time it's maximum is $250,000). In the States, it can be millions of dollars. ICBC is broken into two parts - the tort and the rehab. They are supposed to be at arms length from each other. It's not as much as it should be. ICBC Rehab is not supposed to interfere with what your doctor recommends re rehab. They do at times. They have a 'cookie cutter' approach to rehab, instead of individualized service.

You may have been lapping it up in Lapland at the time. But awhile back tagging complaints were the topic of the day and I said/typed that I was just gonna start tagging the blank ones "Mojave" Search Mojave and you'll see some of my handiwork. Poppy said: "I usually get your jokes". Yes you are one of the few. Obscure references are my favorite ones to tell. Telling a funny here on Pixdaus is quite entertaining way to spend an evening. Sort of like I told Connie above just thinking of somebody reading one of my obscure references is quite self-entertaining.

It takes a lot less time to go through a few photo sites than do tag searches! ;-) - Good luck with your special project, Connie.

I usually get your jokes, but I'm lost on this one, pls explain yourself. :-)

So your government is sticking it to you too.

My answer for the non taggers is "Mojave". :-0

I had over 10,000 photos since about two years ago, and added some as time went by. I had the time then, while recuperating from my accident. I recently deleted 1000s because they would show up on Pixdaus, or I thought they were not very good, or.... I'm posting more photos than usual these days to finish with what I have before I go on holidays in July. On my return from Europe last summer, it took me a couple of weeks to view all the photos posted during that month...too time consuming. Also, I won't have much time to go through sites looking for more photos ensuring they are the photographer's recent work. I will be working on a special project to try to effect changes with my provincial government on a certain issue that is very important to me and others (not contract work - no money involved). I may post some, but a lot less.

...and yes, Connie, this pic is a repost. It does not show up in a tag search because the whole system is useless! For example, all pics posted before a certain date (and I don't know what that is) are automatically excluded from the search. And then, some posters - like jchip8 currently - do not write the tags in the correct way. For example, his STARE DOWN pic of the cat and mouse (72 votes) does not show up if I do a search on the word ‘mouse’ because his tag is mouse-cat. What kind of an animal is mouse-cat? The posters who do not write tags at all are another problem. So: the whole exercise of tag searching is a total waste of time.

Connie, forget your files. I have forgotten mine. Forget about going through thousands of pics on your return. I did, when I got back from my last two trips. Just go to various photosites and post pics that have been posted by the photographers themselves on the day that you intend to post. That's the surest way to have pics that almost always are new and not dupes. Of course, some authors post on several sites, and not always on the same dates, and sometimes repost their own pics, so it's not foolproof. I have not done a tag search for months, and I rarely have dupes. It works. So, Connie, don't stop posting, just change tactics!

Good one A Bouts. Another response might be "and your point?" Seriously though, I avoid uploading reposts as much as possible. I find it boring to see some photos over and over again.
2009-06-13 08:10:57
From now on when somebody tells you it is a re-post just tell them "Yes I know!! That's why I posted it!! Then give yourself an inner giggle at their new bewilderment at trying to figure out your answer.

Drats - the dumb photographer said it was a seal. So, I re-did a search under otter; at least it's not a repost. Mind you, the search button is a bit useless. I re-did a search on poppies a couple of weeks ago and the photo I wanted to post did not come up. Later on under 'similar pics for you' it showed up. It was one of yours (poppies, bird, thistle). Sorrrry ;-) I'm going to Europe for a month this summer. I don't think I will post anymore photos on my return. It would mean going over 1000s of photos that were posted while I was gone to prevent reposts. It would take days, and it would still not be a guarantee because so many folks don't tag.

It's a South American Giant River Otter (Pteronura brasiliensis).
