i believe this is the Trans-Canada Highway in the Canadian Rockies near Lake Louise..

photo is of the trans-alaska oil pipeline as it cuts through the dietrich river valley of the central brooks range.

The light colored path on the far side of the river is the Trans Canada #1 / hwy 93.
The path on the near side of the river (on the photographer's side) is a railroad (see http://www.panoramio.com/photo/22388465)
