i believe this is the Trans-Canada Highway in the Canadian Rockies near Lake Louise..

photo is of the trans-alaska oil pipeline as it cuts through the dietrich river valley of the central brooks range.

my guess is that the picture might have been taken from atop sukakpuk mountain

the picture was taken from Castle Mountain. The valley is the Bow River Valley.

Another Alberta thingy!!! Soooo, like that photo is of the Trans Canada (Highway 1) or, it's the Trans Alaska pipeline? I'm such a confused Canadian...sigh

The light colored path on the far side of the river is the Trans Canada #1 / hwy 93.

The path on the near side of the river (on the photographer's side) is a railroad (see http://www.panoramio.com/photo/22388465)

The path on the near side of the railroad is 1A / twp rd 263a, which split at about the center of the picture
