Buddhism seems to be the only large world religion that isn't trying to kill some other world religion, yet they always seem caught in the crossfire.

While I'm not trying to defend the USA's actions in the middle east, you can't put sole blame on them. The middle east has been the stomping grounds for numerous countries throughout history. Look it up. Russia, Germany, Britain, and the US (to name a few) have all led to the current state of the middle east.

If I remember my history correctly, the hanging gardens have been FUBARed since long before North America was colonized by the Europeans... But do try again.

From Wikipedia: "The gardens were destroyed by several earthquakes after the 2nd century BCE."

US-funded earthquakes, no doubt.

Is islam normal? yes. Are the taleban normal? no. they're carrying out their disgusting work under the name of the religion. They're not muslim.

The Taliban are Muslim, as they claim to be following the prophet Mohammad. Religion is a bankrupt concept which ought to belong to the scrapyard of history.

The mystery about this picture deepens. First, it disappeared from the Most Popular Today list of the 24th when it was heading it. I commented about it here, and asked Willya if she knew anything about it. Now my comments have been removed, as have Willya’s. What kind of mafia forces are at play behind the scenes of Pixdaus when perfectly legitimate and ‘normal’ comments are removed but utterly disgraceful, indescribably nauseating crap is allowed to stay? P.S. I am not saying that there's any crap on THIS page.

This entire site is being hijacked by lunatics like Marcoux, Poppy. I'm thinking of clearing out for a while and just happily watching the newly posted photos and not bothering to read the comments. Hope he doesn't take over your name too.

It used to be such fun here a few months back! Now the comments have deteriorated to the point that there's hardly anything one cares to read and the serial posters with mostly poor-quality pictures are flooding the site. I'm sorry your good name and reputation have been mudied. You're a fine person, Patito, and you have more knowledge and understanding - not to mention a great sense of humour - than most people around here! If you do clear out for a while, please be sure to return real soon!

Yeah, the first pic must be Afghanistan - all afghan girls look like Paris Hilton or otherwise white, seriously! and all afghan women are rich and dress western-style and carry handbags with them, it's so obvious the first picture was taken in Afghanistan then!

You need to read some history,Johnny, and find out what Kabul was like back in the 1960's and 70's, prior to the Soviet invasion.

Some people incorrectly think that Afghanistan people are arabs. Depending on the area a person is from, they are from fair, blond, blue-eyed TO darker. Afghanistan people were educated, cultured, well-off and westernized in their ways (not necessarily a good thing). Kabul was the cultural centre - a beautiful fertile city. The before and after area is the same; I saw those pictures...in the Times I think.

connie, nobody says Afghanis are Arabs, they are just Muslim. but you lying, badly. there are no blond/blue-eyed Afghanis or anywhere in the "Stans". and the educated cultured people you talk about were about 5% of the population--the majority population in A-Stan, and all the Stans, have basically been living the same way since 1500 AD. a cultured elite in Kabul is nothing compared to a medieval culture in the entire country. i don't know why you are trying to "beautify" the culture when anyone who reads a book can see it's bullshit.

connie (2)--let me add to what i said. there are small groups of people across the "Stans" that have certain "western" looks but that is because of centuries of infiltration from europe and russia. but "Stani" people are ethnically "Hindustani"--dark hair dark eyes. and i'll also say "Stanis" have been Muslim ever since the great wars of conquest of Mohammed and that is why they have stayed in a medieval state of culture. all the Central Asian countries have had "cultured/westernized" elites in the capital cities--these are exactly the parts of their society that tried to modernize their medieval societies and also made deals with western powers for oil and territory. don't try to glorify or romanticize A-Stan or any of the Stans--the entire region was, is, a mess of medieval Muslim practice and barbaric customs including the absolute oppression of women. go read some books and then come say something intelligent.

Sixes and Five: Accusing someone of lying and making demeaning remarks is immature and is not conducive to sharing thoughts and ideas. By the way, I have a huge library of books of various interest in my home.
Perhaps the people listed above are aware that Afghanis are not arabs, but it amazes me as to how many people I have met or heard of who think all muslims are arabs.
I was not very clear who I was referring to in the last part of my note. I was referring to a certain segment of the Afghan population. My Afghanis friends would certainly not agree with your figure of 5%. At the beginning of Islam, the sciences, arts, cultures... flourished. Gradually, a fanatical element of Islam started to take over.
Quotes from "March of the Titans, A History of the White Race - The Aryans in Afghanistan and India":
Around the year 2000 BC, originating in the Caucasus, a sun worshipping Indo-European tribe calling themselves Aryans, using a language known as Sanskrit, invaded central Asia and occupied territory as far as the north of India. These invaders were what became known as the original Aryans.
In fact, all of those countries spanning their age of conquest bear names directly related to them - India, Iran, Iraq are all corruptions of the original word "Aryan". (Far off distant racial cousins of the Aryans went west, penetrating as far as Ireland, giving the name "Eire" to that land - also a derivative of the word Aryan).
After 2000 BC, waves of Aryans flooded into modern day Afghanistan, setting up a nation which became known as Aryana, or "Land of the Aryans." By the middle of the 6th Century BC the Persian Empire had incorporated Aryana into its boundaries, and by 330 BC, Alexander the Great had occupied the region.
By this time most of the original Aryans in Aryana had been absorbed into the local native population, although it is still possible to this day to see light-eyed and light-haired individuals amongst the modern Afghanistan population.
The famous cover of the National Geographic magazine of June 1985 shows a female Afghan refugee fleeing the then Soviet Union's invasion of Afghanistan."(downloaded on Pixdaus). "The picture is valuable as it vividly demonstrates the left over genetic imprint of the Aryans who founded Afghanistan nearly 4000 years ago. The girl's eyes are green, her hair light brown and her features almost indistinguishable from modern White Europeans. This then represents the last remaining traces of the Aryans in Afghanistan."
It then shows a picture of a child with blond hair in a refugee camp. During the American Invasion of Afghanistan, CNN, CBC, BBC shows images of people, some children, with blond hair and blue eyes.
I have met many people, and have friends, from Iran, Iraq, India and Afghanistan, who are either have themselves European features features and/or told me about others, in their countries.

These comments here about Afghanistan and its culture are written with so much confidence, even with accusing other people to not have read books, but don't be taken in by these people. THEY DON'T KNOW.
