This picture reflects so good the differences of the world today. Let's all try to do something about it!

So, what have you done so far? You ludicrous simpleton. What differences do you think the picture shows? The only thing I see is what areas have been urbanized and what areas have not.

So what you're saying is that you want sprawling cities of asphalt and concrete all over the world, instead of tropical rain forests, savannas, and tundras?

The very least you "Let's all make the world a happier place!" people could do is think about what you're going to say before you even say it.

Plus, you totally missed the point of the picture. It's supposed to be beautiful, not "eye opening to the world's problems."

It is definitely a great picture,
anyway: the wealthier the brighter, isn't it? :)

this is taken by a satelite and its made of many pictures and the satelite was flying around the earth so that he could take every photo when it was dark at this time on each spot :D

...and they used Photoshop to put the pictures together and cleanup the image.

I am more trying to figure out why the least populated provinces in Canada have the most lights.

Could it be because the snow is reflecting the light?
The north of Europe and Siberia have to much of the light too.

America, America...
Its a worldmap and America is not the world

Kozika, perhaps the poster was referring to the Continent of America. The photo shows mostly that. But, who knows.

This map shows which areas of the world consume most of our energy resources...

It shows all continents. Not just 'America', but that might be the one shape an American poster recognizes. Besides, the other 90% of the world is just 'filler' anyway, to frame America and make it look like the awesomest place it is. Isn't it? ;)
