Perhaps to save humanity ! A recent study of the relative amounts of protein contained in various substances found that the larvae of the common housefly had, ounce for ounce, more protein than any other substance tested. Raising housefly larvae for food would be a much less wasteful and ecologically destructive practice than raising beef,and a large agri-business corpoortion is actually looking into opening a nationwide chain of fast food restaurants that will specialize in larvae-based burgers. Look for the opening of one of the new MaggotDonald's in your neighborhood soon. You'll want to try the Big Maggot, with lettuce, cheese, pickles and special sauce. Or then again, maybe you won't.

For now, I will just stick to using fly larvae for fishing bait.
