Why didn't Kevin just pick up the child and take him to the UN camp?

He helped the girl get up, so that she could reach the camp, and chased the bird away.

His depression wasn't related solely to his regret to help the child; he was also under intense media scrutiny and in heavy debt. His entire life, it seems, was spent photographing the travesties that were occurring in South Africa.
His suicide note read, ""I am depressed ... without phone ... money for rent ... money for child support ... money for debts ... money!!! ... I am haunted by the vivid memories of killings & corpses & anger & pain ... of starving or wounded children, of trigger-happy madmen, often police, of killer executioners...I have gone to join Ken (Oosterbroek, a close friend of Ken's who had committed suicide himself months earlier) if I am that lucky."

Blame those who got and are doing nothing to share with them.
15 000 tons of Grain in Poland will be burned, becose food supplys are over limits.
- costs are too hight to export
- law is saying You cannot give for free old breed from shoop for poors, You must pay taxes for that ( gift tax ? )
Ouer system suck so much ^^, DO NOT IGNORE OTHERS in need.

Actually, last time we tried that, we fucked up their economies to the point of dependency. By giving them free or cheap grain, we put local farmers out of business, and when we couldn't send exports, they were worse off than when they began.
The key is to create self-sustaining systems there. Sponsoring a child or providing a loan via kiva.org are great places to start.

South African photojournalist Joao Silva, who accompanied Carter to Sudan, gave a different version of events in an interview with Japanese journalist and writer Akio Fujiwara that was published in Fujiwara's book "The boy who became a postcard" (Ehagakini Sareta Shônen).
According to Silva, they [Carter and Silva] went to Sudan with the United Nations aboard Operation Lifeline Sudan and landed in Southern Sudan on the 11th of March 1993. The UN told them that they would take off again in 30 minutes, [the time necessary to distribute food], so they ran around looking to take shots. The UN started to distribute corn and the women of the village came out of their wooden huts to meet the plane. Sliva went looking for guerilla fighters, while Carter strayed no more than a few dozen feet from the plane.
Again according to Silva, Carter was quite shocked as it was the first time that he had seen a famine situation and so he took many shots of the children suffering from famine. Silva also started to take photos of children on the ground as if crying, which were not published. The parents of the children were busy taking food from the plane so they had left their children only briefly while they collected the food. This was the situation for the girl in the photo taken by Carter. "God was smiling on Kevin." A vulture landed behined the girl. To get the two in focus, Carter approached the scene very slowly so as not to scare the vulture away and took a photo from approximately 10 meters. He took a few more photos and then the vulture flew off.
Silva stated that he also took similar photos, but didn't win the Pulitzer Prize. "That's just the way things go."
According to Fujiwara, the truth was that the child's mother was not far away and left the child only briefly to collect food. The belief that the child was alone and struggling to reach the food drop was not true.

Your account seems more plausible Sony Palencheri. The claimed story of the little child struggling to crawl nearly half a mile to get food is so improbable.

Lots of different version of this story. What I read just after it won the Pulitzer, was that the photographer saw the kid and the vulture, waited awhile because he wanted a picture with the vulture's wings spread, then took the picture, chased away the vulture and carried the kid back to camp.

Nature wants balance. 6.5 billion humans...2,000 cheetas. Just an axiom of biology...nature will have her correction for over population. Bob Geldoff, Bono, Angelina Jolie and those dumb fucking xtian missionaries only make more/greater suffering possible. Factor in the fact that they live on land that can't possible support enough farming to feed them consitantly...That's not famine.
Even animals skip breeding during harsh times. Lionesses spontainiously abort and reabsorb entire litters based on the availibility of prey. If you don't have a reasonable idea of being able to provide for offsping you are a moron to produce them.

Cultures guily of this...The one that produced this poor child as well as India, China and to a lesser extent Mexico. Nature WILL have her correction. Sad...yes. Should we even try to thwart her...not in my opinion.

Perhaps ypu'd care to explain to those of us who've not attained your level of enlightenment and superior insight exactly how Ms Jolie, Mr, Bono, "dumb fucking xtian missionaries" and others who are trying to help have caused more and greater suffering? And what, pray tell, does Mexico have to do with this photograph ?
