This is just heartbreaking. That poor dog is clearly at death's door. All I can really hope is that the person who took the photo helped him afterwards.

Actually, its pretty clear that this puppy is completely emaciated and likely near death. You can see the definition of his shoulder blades he's so gaunt. There is zero muscle tone. The look in his eyes is a pleading look, not a puppy look. I'm not sure how anyone can look at that puppy and see anything but a puppy in extreme crisis (dehydrated, emaciated, cold, and depressed) instead of a healthy puppy (good muscle tone, bright eyes, and skin that doesn't show the skeletal structure of its shoulder blades).

I agree that this puppy is in very poor condition. I would not be surprised if it were huddling up to that cat for warmth.
