Pixdaus

Logan, you have as much right as anyone else to participate in anything that goes on here..there is no dictatorship..believe me, if there was we'd have sent the trolls to Siberia a long time ago....Pixdaus IS about pictures...but it is a human group,and every human group has behavioral norms and standards...all we're trying to do is find a way to (a) keep users from deliberately taking other people's photos and re-posting them, (b) controlling the trolls, who have made themselves obnoxious for as long as I've been here, and (c) making the voting system fair and equitable....so what's wrong with that ? I urge you to stay and help us make this a better website...you have a good eye for quality and have posted some great photos...don't chicken out on us !

(1) There are other users, such as photo-rustlers, trolls porn-posters and serial down-voters, who need to be offended..maybe you're one of them.
(2) What irony that you say this while hiding behind a false identity, a coward without the guts to make your statements using your own name.
(3) Trolls deserve to have troll-pics uploaded: the one thing they can't stand is to be ridiculed.
(4) You have zero proof that this is true: it's somrthing you heard from another troll and accepted as gospel. You trolls have your own standards of evidence, ethics, and morality.

You have the opportunity to participate as an equal in grass-roots democracy, but you'd rather whine and complain, try to dis-credit others, and make wild accusations. Your cry of 'Dictatorship' simply makes you sound ridiculous. Go stuff it up your butt, mutt !

Connie, when Skip referred to proxy voting, she meant cheating votes that some posters have an endless supply of...

I did not take issue with what Skip said; I realized that she was using the word 'proxy' differently than I had used it. I just wanted folks to know that I have a friend who stays in my place sometimes while I'm away. She knows my user name and has voted at times, but is not allowed to make comments under my name.

I still don't know how some posters can cheat on the votes. I hope you keep letting us all know when we re-post. I would appreciate it if you told me; I don't take it personal. I did not go back to look at the photos that were posted while I was in Europe for over a month. So, there is a chance I might repost...if the photo is not tagged properly.

Actually, some good photos deserve to be re-posted once in a while...what's distressing is when a photo is reposted without any of the information given by the original poster...

Pixdaus is supposed to be about pictures, but currently there are many issues that are interfering with our enjoyment of those pictures.

You talk about "patito/poppy dictatorship" and I truly do not understand where that is coming from. What do you think any of us can do other than make suggestions to Pixdaus admin about dealing with the various problems that we have here? Then, it is up to the admin to do what they see fit, and none of us here has any edge to do any 'armtwisting' with the admin. So, where is the 'dictatorship'?

I still don't know how one person can vote many times. I don't have the world's greatest memory, so at times I vote on a picture twice. I get the message 'you already voted'. I would think that Pixdaus could find a way to stop multiple votes by one person.

I had dear Cohise, cunnie, and a few other trolls pestering me for quite a while. I don't think we can eliminate trolls completely from this site; it's part of cyberspace. They are mostly teenagers, university students, or persons who have mental and/or social issues. They tend to be isolated from others. They don't know how to interact with a group, so they 'troll'. Some are just immature and think they are being funny.

But, there is are folks who want to say something but are afraid of getting their photos downvoted in retaliation (ie telling someone their photo is a repost), so they use another name, or some who are just jesting. I don't mind those at all.

I would think that Pixdaus could easily prevent massive uploads. For example, they could fix it so that a username can only upload x number of photos in 24 hours.

As for the tagging, that would be very difficult. Many uploaders cannot write, read or understand English. This is an international site with people from all over the world posting photos.

Re-posts: None of us can be expected to look at all the photos on Pixdaus since it was started in 2007, nor can we be expected to remember what was posted months ago, or what was posted while someone is on holidays. But, we need to at least make some effort to do a search under tag. Of course, there are those who shop in Pixdaus to get their photos.

Poppy, you suggested that we select photographers' latests photos. I do sometimes, but I would find it very boring to just do that. I find a lot of my photos on blogs, foreign sites, even research sites. It's much more interesting, as I get to read and learn interesting things at the same time. Unfortunately, it does not tell me if the photo is the photographer's recent ones, or even who the photographer is.

Anyways, you gotta laugh folks. It's cyberspace ;-)
