What the hell is that bird, and how amazing the photo taker. It's pretty awesome. How can you take a picture like that. I love it!

Use a tripod, 35mm high speed film, cable release, fast auto advance, and a semi-slow shutter speed. Looks like a relatively wide aperture opening as well. Oh, and it takes a LOT of patience! That is how you get a picture like that.
