1. I would like to point out to you that Africa is a WHOLE continent, not a country. Therefore generalizing and saying that the whole of Africa looks like a hut village is a stupid generalization.
2. There are countries in Africa which are way more developed and probably better of than countries in Europe, and probably some states in the US.
3. I would like to remind you that most industrialized countries feed and exploit African countries' natural resources, leaving some zones of Africa in the misery represented in the picture.

During the days of the Roman Republic when slavery waas a normal and accepted part of everyday life, slaves from Britain were used as laborers, field hands, mine workers and the like, but were considered too backward, uncouth and barbaric to be used in Roman households.But slaves from Africa were routinely used as Roman household slaves and servants. A far more realistic comparison would be ancient Rome to ancient Egypt. Gee, an African culture that managed to rise out of the cesspool it seems to be today! Too bad both places eventually fell, but one, the country of Italy, still managed to somehow come with the rest of us into the modern world, whereas the other is still so far in the dark ages it's not funny.
