Africa 2000 years ago before the settlers invaded, however, was equal to other civilizations of its time. Put blame where blame is due, Europe would now be in the same situation if their descendants were beat down and had their culture stolen by invading religious freaks.

Blayze, no written languages originated in black africa. You cannot blame white colonialists for that. The greeks began writing what they learned thousands of years ago. The ability read has been an evolutionary force in Europe ever since. As in China, which has an even longer written history, and now a growth rate of 10 percent per year for twenty years.

Why is the comparison being made? I don't get it.

Their pointing out that rome was much further advanced 2000 years ago, and that Africa today has still not made progress. I suppose theres alot of reasons for that

Or like a culture that creates cults where underage girls are forced to marry older men because their religion says that's what god wants, or that abstinence is an effective method of sex education, or that alqaeda was in Iraq in 2002, yup, that stupidity, bringer of the end of the world.

I don't get it, either, Brian. Ancient Rome had some magnificent buildings and Africa today has some squalid ones. So?

All I see is a lame attempt of pregidist and bigotry. Your sorry dude.

Good point, bad spelling. I think you meant 'prejudice.'

ok, maybe I don't understand everything, but I had the impression that some parts of Afica had not advanced because they were holding on to their tribal traditions.

How is our modern civilization more 'advanced' than tribal culture when mankind won't stop creating and using technologies that are increasingly likely to destroy the environment past the point where the earth can sustain any life at all?

I'd like to think having indoor plumbing and knowing to not be so goddamn stupid as to shit in the very water you drink would be a good sign of being "advanced", yeah. And that raping virgins doesn't cure AIDS, but hey, guess what, medicine that the "advanced" cultures of the world have created just might one day! Please leave the internet as you entirely fail at life.

Zumi, you're a fool if you don't realize that native peoples around the world are almost universally aware of the sanitary no-no of INTENTIONALLY fouling their own water (by the way, using this as an argument, and pretending that there are no flush toilets in Africa confirms you to be a racist tool) as those of us living in modern societies do when we do our doo-doo; when forced into refugee camps that lack the most basic sanitary facilities ALL people will do doo-doo where they must -- the actions of the people displaced by hurricane Katrina show this is true. People in the U.S. reacted in the exact same way as do Africans when there was no effective emergency relief available to them -- And you are even more the racist idiot if you don't understand that there are many cultures in Africa, and that just because in a few of those cultures there are some people that still believe such superstitious nonsense as witchcraft, that doesn't meant that EVERYONE in Africa believes in witchcraft, in the same way that just because there are people in Europe and the Americas that still believe such superstitious nonsense as the christian mythology, doesn't mean that EVERYONE in Europe and the Americas believes in the christian myth.

1. I would like to point out to you that Africa is a WHOLE continent, not a country. Therefore generalizing and saying that the whole of Africa looks like a hut village is a stupid generalization.
2. There are countries in Africa which are way more developed and probably better of than countries in Europe, and probably some states in the US.
3. I would like to remind you that most industrialized countries feed and exploit African countries' natural resources, leaving some zones of Africa in the misery represented in the picture.

During the days of the Roman Republic when slavery waas a normal and accepted part of everyday life, slaves from Britain were used as laborers, field hands, mine workers and the like, but were considered too backward, uncouth and barbaric to be used in Roman households. But slaves from Africa were routinely used as Roman household slaves and servants. Draw your own conclusions.

So stereotypically!! If you actually opened your eyes, instead of being so narrow minded you would see that not every single country in Africa looks like that today! Next time brush up on your history, or maybe even take a trip there yourself, before posting things you know absolutely nothing about!

A far more realistic comparison would be ancient Rome to ancient Egypt. Gee, an African culture that managed to rise out of the cesspool it seems to be today! Too bad both places eventually fell, but one, the country of Italy, still managed to somehow come with the rest of us into the modern world, whereas the other is still so far in the dark ages it's not funny.

You don't even know the difference between "your" and "you're". GTFO, get off the internet and go back to grade 1.

Don't you just love pages like this one: you start nowhere, visit many somewheres but end up nowhere again, and then the journey starts anew. I think I'll take a walk in the woods, instead, despite Gargantuan Bunny.
