Yes, we have some areas here in Australia too that are not that pleasing to the eye. I guess I'm a little wary of these dishes from Mexico because I've never really made myself familiar with them. Oh well, there's always a first time... :)

I don't know of any city in the US, and certainly not in Texas, that doesn't have some parts that are unlovely, funky, and often just plain ugly, and I suspect that's true in most of the world with the exception of carefully preserved tourist towns or the enclaves of the very wealthy. And while Mexican food can be and often is quite spicy, rich and highly seasoned, it isn't neccessarily so, nor is it always flaming with chilis. But sometimes it is, so the gringo novice should proceed con cuidado.

You're very welcome. Why only parts of the city, patito ? That's sad. I've never tried Mexican food. If it's hot, (as in chilli hot) then I don't think I'd like it much.... :(

This really looks like a very beautiful place. No wonder you keep posting pics of the area, patito. Don't blame you. Thanks for that.. :) Mary (aka PictureGirl).
