In Texas they're called Indian Paintbrush. Never heard anyone call 'em anything but that. And of course Bluebonnets are called Bluebonnets, and are the State Flower of Texas. You may also be interested to know that the State Tree of Texas is the Pecan, the State Fruit is the Grapefruit, the State Grass is Sideoats Grama, the State Dance is the Square Dance, the State Shrub is the Crape Myrtle, the State Dog is the Blue Lacy, and the State Food is Chili , and the State Flying Mammal is the Mexican Free-Tailed Bat, all of which is probably a lot more than any of you wanted to know!
