This has to be one of my more favorite nebulas. It is so beautiful and reminds me of someone I love. :) I drew a picture of it once but it's so complicated, I couldn't get the edges right.
Not nice...since I now realize that it's not the real McCoy. I had seen reference somewhere to the Phoenix Nebula. So, I had googled "astronomy picture of the day phoenix nebula" and this photo popped up. I didn't think of checking further. I just now went to the actual Astronomy site and the Phoenix Nebula is something else.
