We might debate into infinity which of the two evils were the greater or lesser...that's at least a legitimate argument. But I don't believe any rational and informed person would argue that invading North Korea would be worth the costs, oil or not. And of course the Iraq war was about oil. Only children and a few right-wing fanatics ever though otherwise.

Saddam Hussein was not anywhere near as evil as the regimes in North Korea (millions died a few years ago of mass starvation - all the money went to their Armed Forces), Cambodia, Syria etc. The whole world knew there were no WMD, even the bumbling US State Dept. But, the Americans had to invent a story to invade Iraq - just to protect oil interest. There is no oil in North Korea, so why bother. Now, there are rumblings about Iran - there is oil there.

Saddam's army was a sham and fell apart as soon as live fire commenced. The PROK has not only a huge army, but a well-trained officer corps fanatical in its loyalty. Also, the terrain is very different. PROK is rugged country, very mountainous, whereas one can drive a heavy armored vehicle across most of Iraq from border to border at 80 kph. And don't just hang it on the Yanks. We were there too, you know, and perhaps right to have been. Saddam was a truly evil bastard.

Kim Jong un, aka Kim Jong-eun or Jung-eun....NOT Um. Why did the Americans not go after the father, like they did with Saddam Hussein etc? Answer: There is no oil in North Korea. So they don't give a damn about WMD, as long as there are no oil.

Oh Boy, 28 years old and now in charge of one of the biggest armies on earth, not to mention WMD's...probably some nukes, certainly a lot of chemical agents. Stay tuned.
