AND, you would turn to the Germans as well if their enemies, the USSR, had just walked into your country and taken it over. I don't blame the Estonians for signing up. The Finns worked with the Nazi's as well, but they would not kick out their Jewish officers from the army, as they did not believe in that. They did let it go, over 50 years later, when they collapsed. Gotta love a country that has guards at the border to keep you in.

Not as stupid as you.

If they all liked being Nazi why would have some of them tried to kill Hitler and save jews? Try not being a close minded idiot.

The SS on the sleeves denote these were NOT german soldiers - but Hitler's elite SS guard. The ones who rounded up Jews, gypsies, etc. They were definitely Nazi's and they LIKED being Nazi.

Guys, guys ... the two on the right aren't even German. They are volunteer Estonian freiwillegen, SS auxiliaries; the collar tabs and sleeve shield are unmistakable. Very likely Nazi, though. The kid on the right has been twice wounded (silver wound badge). The left soldier is a German Waffen SS rottenfuhrer: a corporal, who wears the EK2 ribbon for Iron Cross 2nd klasse.

A kitten, carrying a flower, with a hand grenade strapped to it's chest, walks into a bar and yells, "Die, infidels, Allah is Great!" and pulls the pin on the grenade. The bartender looks over at the kitten and yells, "Holy FUCK!! I must be freaking out, I just saw a talking cat -- that's the last time I eat mushrooms before I tend the bar!!!"

The first soldier is a Waffen-SS man and just because you were in the SS did not mean you were a member of the Nazi Party. The 2nd and 3rd soldiers are volunteers for a foreign division of the Waffen-SS. Look at the left collar tabs and the shield on the right fore arm of the last man. I can't say what unit they were in, maybe Estonia, Croatia, etc. At the end of the war there were more non-Germans fighting for Germany then Germans. The Waffen-SS has been called the first NATO.....

Most of them had eaten up the propaganda fed to them by the government, much like some Americans eat up the propaganda their government feeds them today, and didn't actually realize that their nation was an aggressor. Today, of course, propaganda is much more difficult thanks to international mediums like the internet, and I often wonder if Hitler would have been able to get away with as much as he did had the internet existed back then.

The one in ss uniform is Harry Potter's grandfather,he was misfortunately killed while he played the usual and everyday Nazi flower-kitten-grenade game. Something like checkers nowadays.

Oh Guys??? What´s wrong with you? I´m a German (3 Generations after the "Nazi-Deutschland"!!! I´m NOT proud to be a german, but i could not choose it. To your Statements: Only the first Soldier at the photo is a Nazi (with the SS at the sleeve. SS was always Nazi. To be a member by SS was a free choise! thus SS = Nazi ! But NOT all Germans and all german soldiers was Nazis!!! oh No! But they where stupid...very stupid! The grenade = called "Eier-Handgranate" a real german WW2 Egg, but the "sticks" are used most times. Why? A Stick Grenade was cheaper to build.

A kitten, a flower, and a hand grenade. There's a joke in there somewhere...

Not all German WWII grenades were the stick-mounted "potato masher" type. Germany made the Type 39 "egg grenade", the type illustrated in the photo, throughout the war. If you view the movie "Downfall", there is a scene where a German officer in Berlin kills himself and his family with a pair of Type 39 grenades.

By 1944 only 29 Germans switched the side to the Soviet cause. You still tell they did not want to fight???
2008-05-03 07:10:54
this isn't a grenade! german grenades were stick-type ones!
2008-04-21 00:05:50
maybe the pollen in the flower contained a new virus that they were testing out on the kitten before they tried it on people - and the grenade was there in case it mutated into a fiendish monster??
2008-04-20 05:28:09
I'm pretty sure that one had to be a nazi to be considered as a potential SS soldier. In other words, all SS were nazi, but not all nazi were SS
2008-04-19 02:45:40
I bet, that not every american soldier in iraq supports george w. bush! but they have to go there because it's their job! and not EVERY german soldier was a nazi! (it's safe to say that the one with the SS-sign was one) german soldiers = nazi. that's just wrong!!
2008-04-19 01:50:44
Believe it or not, most German soldiers did not want to go to war. It wasn't all fun and games for them you know. You do it for your country, your family, your friends, regardless whether it's right or wrong.
2008-04-19 01:38:25
Yeah, the mysteriosus nation - Nazis. They are SS murderers, they are Germans!
2008-04-18 23:20:43
I don't know... Blowing up kittens with grenades after teasing it with a flower- sounds like a total Nazi move to me.
2008-04-18 23:02:21
you're right r0w4n but i still agree with the others, i think they are just ordinary german soldiers who prolly don't follow nazism like a religion...
2008-04-18 21:57:24
notice the ss on their sleeves this shows they are nazi's!!
2008-04-18 20:11:04
I think the picture tries to show these German WWII soldiers enjoying the same things as the rest of us. The grenade strongly detracts from the image.
2008-04-18 20:06:39
these are three german soldiers! not every german soldier was a nazi!!
