I've seen pictures of that dog with at least three different 'street' people.

Hey Phildo, I've seen him too! For a while, I thought he was trying to get home and was down and out, but then I was coming home on the 6 train and he was shooting up at the low end of the 14th st. platform.

I'm a little disgusted that everyone is making a big deal out of the collar... some dogs are really strong and you can't control them with a normal collar... and maybe he had this dog before something bad happened... or he really needed someone and wasn't in the right mind set to realize that maybe he didn't have enough money for it.... he obviousley cares for it if hes keeping it warm and feeding it...I admoit he probably isn't trying but maybe he's scared to be shot down by cruel people ( Example: some of the people leaving comments here)I don't think anyone should judge him... you dojn;t know wha hes been through he might not think like you and judging by this picture he is not harming anyone. so i think everyone should back off....

this is sadly real. I see this douche all the time. He begs for money while he holds his dog for sympthy. I know hes a liar cause I've been seeing him for years with a cardbord sign swearing he needs money to return to oreagon or some shit.

I still love what the picture captures, but kudos on catching the choke chain...loyalty?!?? more like captivity to submission. I think he's more or so bringing his companion down. I think the dog has more of a chance to give back to society!!...don't hate it was just a joke:)

"loyalty"? are you kidding me? do you not see the chain around the dog's neck? "...this man and his companion sit everyday (weather permitting) in this position." yup, this guy sits in the same spot day in and day out. he's not even TRYING to get something better for himself let alone contribute to society

aside from the unnesessay comments above. Yes this is a real photo that captures the reality and emotions of this mans situation. This photo was taken in Toronto, ON, where this man and his companion sit everyday (weather permitting) in this position. I love this photo.

I can't help but cut and paste: "Even with your oblivious insensitivity, I wouldn't wish you to suffer the same circumstances that pushed this young man into suffering these mean streets."

too the negative comments to this picture, you are the reason we have homeless people, The reality of America is that we discard people like garbage. Get a heart before it to late!

The kid is a BUM, probably from San Francisco. They are everywhere out there. I don't feel sorry for him at all. And why the hell does he have a dog if he can't even take care of him self. At least give up the dog. Just because his life sucks, doesn't mean the dogs should. I bet the dog gets more attention then he does.

one of my favourite photos on pixdaus, does anyone know who the photographer is?
2008-06-03 07:33:10
I don't think anyone said it was cute or endearing, But if you were alone in the world maybe without a family. It shows the love and loyalty between the young man and his dog. It looks like he's giving up his own food to give to the dog. It's sad but I think that makes it a realistic photo

Dirt bag ought to get a job, piece of crap scum sucking leach.
2008-06-03 01:47:06
this photo is not cute or endearing about dog love. it's just sad.
2008-06-02 02:50:01
yes, it's called "unconditional love" and it's the best kind there is
2008-06-02 02:32:21
I agree with Skip. It also shows the wonderful bond between people and dogs. Dogs who respect you without question; dogs who let you speak to them without criticism, question, annoyance, reluctance, judgment, ...

This may not be a real photo, but it really goes on.. kids being in the streets I mean. It reminds me of phil collins song "another day in paradise" anyway thanks
