Not a bad idea...people do that with possums as they are scavengers and carrion eaters..trap 'em and feed 'em corn for a couple of weeks to sorta clean 'em out...BUT..I gotta say, once you start down the road of worrin' very much about the purity of the food you eat there's no turnin' back, and before you know it you'll wind up growin' a garden and shopping at the Hipppie Food Co-op.

I do like crawdads and buy rice by the ten pound sack. We even have a crawdad festival on the river in Isleton, Ca. we went to each year. But man straight out of the fields with the treated water! They could do like a friend of mine does with the bass he wants to eat and take them home and stick them in a tub with fresh clean running water. And leave them in there for a few days so they could filter themselves out.

Up in No.Cal when they drained the rice fields I saw these Asian dudes collecting up all of the crawdads. They would average around 50 per field. I would be afraid of the fertilizers in the water. But they were thrilled to get them. I used to think that they took them home and had a feast. Only later I was told that they took them to China Town in San Francisco and sold them. I don't know if it's legal or not but it makes me think twice about what I order when I go out to eat.
