I'll believe it's a crisis when the people who say it's a crisis act like its a crisis.

A few days ago, Abe, you posted a link to an article in the New York Times Magazine about a famous, world-class scientist named Freeman Dyson who has become controversial within the scientific commnity for suggesting that the consequences of global warming might not be as dire as most scientists predict. I suspect you didn't actually read the article because it made it very clear that Dyson does NOT question whether warming is occuring. He is, on the contrary, absolutely convinced that the planet is warming, and even that it is at least in part a result of human activity. Global-warming denial has become an article of faith among the radical right...the fact that the overwhelming preponderance of scientific opinion supports it is blithely brushed aside and ignored. It's the same mentality that insisted the earth revolves around the sun for a couple of centuries after every scientist in the world knew it wasn't so, and who today insist that evolution is "only a theory."
