According to the site I originally saw this on a few years ago, the man is Charlie & the bear is Biscuit. The bears of Kamchatka, like the bears of McNeil River, Alaska, have become used to some humans because people there behave with respect in their habitat. Biscuit and other bears know that if the locals have a good day fishing, they're going to get a treat left behind for them. Mother bears will come down to the water with their cubs to watch the food come in.

It is NOT a good idea to get caught between a bear cub and her mother. Bears are very protective of their young. There is little chance of out running a pissed of mother bear. You will be dead as dead can be.

This is in Kamchatka peninsula in far east Russia. The bears there have a great tolerance to humans and can co-exist with them. If man starts invading their territory, hunting them and developing in their homeland, their attitude towards humans can change...
