Once he realized he was lost, Moore used a cell phone to call a friend but quickly lost reception. Search and rescue workers found his truck on the trailhead and searched the area Sunday night with no success. On Monday morning a helicopter from Naval Air Weapons Station at China Lake flew searchers to the top of the peak. They found Moore’s footprints heading off the trail and they tracked him down by 10 a.m. Moore was in good health and trudged down the mountain with his rescuers for a couple of hours before they could meet up with vehicles.
