No, not "Ringworld with a roof." Just because a place is imaginary doesn't mean that the idea of that place lacks characteristics which make it unique. Ringworld was envisioned by Larry Niven to have been constructed on such a huge scale that two mountain ranges would appear to frame a long valley; their 'altitude' held the breathable atmosphere against the structure, and the band of the Ringworld would arch up on either side to rise into the sky towards the blinding light of the sun. Something of that size (300,000,000 kilometers in diameter) would be hundreds of kilometers, at least, from on side to the other around the band of the ring. The Ringworld of the book was also centered around a star, and the panels of the roof here show the apparent position of the sun on one side of this space station, not at the center of the ring.

Crunch, Rama was a cylinder. This is a torus. Looks like an update to the Stanford Torus space habitat concept from back in the 70's. Cool stuff! Madoc

It looks like a recreation of Rama, by Arthur C. Clarke.

the platform the guy is standing on juts out from the right and you can't actually see what's supporting it because it's out of the frame. the buildings below and to the left of him are actually far behind and below him.

The building the guy on, appears to be farther away than the pools with people next to them. And if the stuctures, next to the building the guy is standing on, are really structures it would be hard for him to fit in. I guess my "depth of field" is pretty bad.

Research "depth of field" and report to me tomorrow with your findings . . .

In some other species future. mankind will have destroyed itself long before this could occur. Or perhaps this is Darfur in space? Presided over by Robert Mugabe's ancestor and supplied by Halliburton. Dreams are nice though.
