Obligation of counting the votes and declaration of winner sets on previous race winner. In this case, Skip have to decide when is race over and who is a winner.

Thanks Race Master! you did a good job of explainning things and figuring out a way to go about this, actually I only meant that we would pick our own theme's next wednesday, but if everyone likes the idea and wants to keep doing it that way it's fine with me too. I think we could still judge the top pic by just one pic no matter who's theme it was, if that would make it easier, but either way I think we all know when the pixdaus day starts, because that's when so many people start posting their new pics and if it's over twenty four hrs from then, that's pretty easy. I was thinking I might like to post a few more pics for the theme like maybe seven, instead of five, because when I start looking for theme pics I usually find quite a few that I want to post, but I will go along with whatever you all decide, because I really enjoy the races and I think it brings us all together more, and besides all that, it's fun! :)

Well, I was just going to suggest that we should have a prize. Why don't each one of you send me 20 bucks each week or the equivalent in Euros, Pesos, or Pounds Sterling, and I'll pass it along to the winner each week...minus a small processing and handling fee, of course.

Quite a few of us are here at the change of the Pixdaus day, almost on a daily basis, and could be counting the votes when the 24 hrs of the race are over. Of course the voting continues even as the votes are being counted, so a precise vote count exactly at the change of the day cannot be achieved as the counting will take more than a minute or two. But, as there are 5 pictures entered by each contestant, I am sure that the vote counts of the two top sets will show greater differences than the top two pictures have thus far done when judged by one picture only, so if up or downvoting occurs as the votes are being counted, it will not make that much difference to the totals. Anyway, the races are for fun and we would not take a vote or two that seriously, right? :) There are no prices to be won, after all.

Questions : 1 - You will be many racers. Yesterday, how many people posted at least one yellow pic ? It will need a lot of minutes to go across/through the Site for counting : as the scores change at every minute, second, how to stop the results at exactly 9 GMT ? And, because of that, imagine there are sometimes two or three racers obtaining a very close score ... 1 - Who will count the votes ? And declare on the Site the winner ? How, by what mean, to write, to publish the results ?

Sounds reasonable. I second the motion.

Good rules. I like it.

Robot won the race with this picture, and Skip came second. Robot did not want to choose the theme twice in the row, so Skip as next in line is doing it. Skips' idea for the next race is that posters can each choose their own theme or subject. That is a very good idea but determining the winner could be somewhat difficult UNLESS each poster uploads the same number of pics for the race. How about this Five (5) pics per theme, and each theme pic will have in the tags the following: 1. the word 'race' (thus we know it's a picture entered in the race) 2. followed by the name/subject of the theme (birds, people, cars, flowers, cats, landscapes, whatever) 3. followed by numbers from 1 to 5. At the end o the Pixdaus day, the votes of each contender's 5 pics are added up and the poster with the most votes for the whole set will be declared the winner. This could even become the Wednesday Race that is always done the same way. That would serve everyone equally, and choosing our own subject/theme for each week will give us all 'a free hand' to post our favorite pics. As Robot said in his/her comment, the race period has to be determined by the 'Pixdaus day' of 24 hrs at GMT times. If we stick to Wednesdays, in Western countries the race day already begins on Tuesdays. Confusing? Not. We all know when the Pixdaus day changes in our local times. What do you think? Comments, please :)

Who won the race? :I

I forgot to say that Wednesday is fine.

My theme idea, is a little different, so I hope everyone likes it, I thought that each person could chose their own theme, or favorite subject, like cars, boats, flowers, Gb's whatever and then we could determine the winner from the people who posted a theme that day, and then the person who ends up with the most votes. This way the theme we all chose will be a surprise, but it gives us some freedom to do our own thing. let me know what you all think of the idea. :)

The days is over already. The Pixdaus day begins 9 p.m. GMT and ends 24 hrs later at 9 p.m. GMT. I cannot see how else we could determine the race period as we live in many different time zones. - So, what's the theme? And is the race on Wednesday again?

Thanks Robot, great theme today, the yellow was cheerful and warm, which is nice, for those of us who have the winter blues! :) I think I may have voted someone else above me just now, so maybe the baton should go to them?

Fellow posters: Thank you very much for a good race! Many wondeful pictures were posted, and the subject matter was varied and interesting. I don't wish to set the race theme twice in a row, so I pass the baton to Skip. It's all yours, Skip, and let's have fun next week, too! :)
