I see what you mean Fuzzy blue one but perhaps the pic above was taken before the lower front was finished? What can be seen - in the snowy surface - look a bit like construction huts. What do you think? If only Logan5 could tell the story of the pic.

Close but the bottom doesn't seem to match

This time I think I've really got it! Cosmos (or Kosmos) Hotel in Moscow. It was built in 1979 for the Winter Olympics, 1980. I think the pic here was probably taken while it was under construction.

Still no luck but I notice, now, that there seems to be a second waving figure in the lower left, four window rows up from the base. I wonder if the yellow fellows are real or photoshopped?

You'll get there, Gabrielle. You'll find out what building this is and it's whereabouts soon. I just think you will... :)

Have done so, no luck on Google - waiting on response from Logan5. I saw the Toronto one in Corbis but no other buildings like it. Have also tried various other searches. Zilch.

You could try asking Logan5 where he/she found the pic and/or try looking for the style of the building in Google. Not too sure what that would be though..

You are both right. The Toronto building was the first one I found that even looked remotely like the photo above. I did notice the band of windows but wondered if the photo had been taken during construction. Now I don't think so. Maybe it will have to remain "one of life's little mysteries". I still hope someone can enlighten us.

Quite true fuzzy blue one. And I counted 22 floors on the 'house front' pic. Toronto City Hall does not have 22 floors. It states how many it has in this link, in the 'design' section.

I don't think it is, Gabrielle - There are an awful lot of curved buildings out there and there is nothing distinctive enough here to really search for - but I found two images that make me think it is NOT Toronto City Hall - The first has this band of windows in the middle the second shows a large edge on the building that is not in the house front pic

I think I've got it! Toronto City Hall. Can anyone confirm or deny?

I'm still wondering about this one - surely someone recognises it?

A striking picture, where is this building, does anybody know?
