I have just had a look at your site mcfie42, quite fascinating. Perhaps you could tell the old car dealer that steel prices are now very high. The scrap metal business is booming once again. Therefore it would be economically viable to salvage all the old cars from the forest and sell it as scrap. Both India and China are booming economies and can't get enough scrap metal. Whereas some years ago scrap metal prices were not of much consideration, but now the Far Eastern demand is high and businesses in that field are doing well.

After the WW II cars and car parts were very expensive in Norway and cheaper in Sweden. Two brothers started a car scrap company just a few miles from the Swedish-Norwegian border. I met one of the owners, who was quite old and he told me that business were much lower than in the golden days.
