I can't helpit-- Middle age is when you go to bed at night and hope you feel better in the morning. Old age is when you go to bed at night and hope you wake up in the morning. Military intelligence is a contradiction in terms. I've been around so long, I knew Doris Day before she was a virgin. I've been looking for a girl like you -- not you, but a girl like you I've got the brain of a four year old. I'll bet he was glad to be rid of it. Marriage is a wonderful institution... but who wants to live in an institution? Oh! Are you from Wales? Do you know a fella named Jonah? He used to live in whales for a while.

Hello, MrJ, nice to meet another Grouchoite!

I'm a big fan of Groucho and his sayings. His wit was legendary, and many of the things he said are very relevant today. Example: the TV quip that poppy quoted above.

Groucho Marx said that "I think TV is very educational. Every time someone turns on a TV, I go in the other room and read." Groucho's knowledge of literature was phenomenal (his formal education was very modest). His friend Dick Cavett, speaking of Groucho and referencing a certain philosopher's writing, said "I, with my college education, had merely heard of the book, but Groucho had actually read it." Today, most people read very little, or none at all, their 'knowledge' comes mainly from the electronic media. If Groucho were still with us, he would still read, and read, and...

Are you always a dick or is this your birthday?

History and people who make history are never irrelevant, except to people with no sense of history and no awareness that they, themselves, are embedded in the stream of history.

He jumped the shark like 90 years ago. What is he? 150? So irrelevant.
