Thanks Pacifica. Just trying to find an amusing way to share the vast amount of useless trivia I've crammed into my skull over the years...

Zumi, you need the lesson in reading comprehension. Pacifica wrote that "eagles are raptors (i.e., birds of prey), and raptors go after live prey. (Vultures are the ones that go after dead carrion)" I posted a link correcting Pacifica's misinformation, because raptors, (specifically eagles) DO eat carrion. Whether or not THIS fox was dead (and from the look of its eyes it appears dead to me), eagles are opportunistic carrion eaters.

Since you have absolutely no way in hell to tell whether or not the fox is dead in this shot, you could not have *possibly* missed Pacifica's point any more than you just did. Jessup claimed it HAD to be dead for the bird to even approach it, which Pacifica pointed out to be wrong, nothing more. Try some reading comprehension next time.

I dunno... the fox looks pretty dead...kinda draped over that log. Perhaps by someone wanting bait, so he could take a cool photo of an eagle??? ...just speculation...still a great photo :D

Awesome information, Just Sayin. Consider me "embiggened!"

No, the fox isn't dead yet. Eagles are raptors (i.e., birds of prey) and raptors go after live prey. (Vultures are the ones who go after dead carrion.) There's no way the little fox had a chance in hell. This is mother nature, as harsh and cruel as she can appear to us at times. This is an incredible shot and I'm so glad it was posted. I wouldn't have wanted to miss it. Thanks for posting it.

People get too bent out of shape about reposts. I come here every day, and I haven't seen this before - and it's a fascinating picture.

Clearly the fox is dead , that's the only way an eagle will approach one , probably either poisoned or in a leg hold trap , if he is poisoned the eagle will die too.

Does anyone know if the fox got away?

Tags are useless if nobody uses them properly (if at all). Not everybody has time to 'monitor' the photos on this site - I for one haven't seen this one before. Thanks ConstNT. Please don't slam people for duplicate posting, especially when they only upload photos for the benefit of others. You may find people stop submitting photos altogether with comments like this.

Are you life sentenced? :)

i think the only way is to constantly monitor the site each day, i do that, its about 40 pics/day, not very bad:P

Do you have any idea how to detect whether certain picture was published or not? Apart of continuously monitoring content of all the posts made on the site? Tags haven't brought me anything related...

Please don't re-post. Find something original, for Pete's sake.
