Absolutely right, Moonbeam, the author's title should be used. - Rolf obviously did not know that Petra is commonly referred to as the Lost City.

I knew this is Petra and it's correct what history buff wrote, but I used the photographer's title for this picture. It's not respectful to change photographers' titles on their work.

The Internet if full of references to the "Lost City" of Petra. See e.g.: Of course, petra is not 'lost' in the sense that people don't know where it is, but it is known as the ‘Lost City’ because after the 14th century AD Petra was completely lost to the Western world despite having been an important city in antiquity. It was rediscovered in 1812 by the Swiss traveller, Johann Ludwig Burckhardt.

Lovely shot - but the city is not "lost", everyone knows where it is - and Petra is easily "found" on any tour to Jordan. It's even one of the 7 new wonders of the world.
