Average draft on the Nimitz Class is 37 - 41 feet.

The mass will vary, depending on what the ship carries (supplies, weapons, aircraft, personnel, ballast, etc), and that will effect how much water the ship displaces, bringing the deck closer to sea level. I'm sure they keep a pretty close eye on the water level of the ship, but conditions change, and they have to adjust the ship to float at the best level while considering environment and mission. I couldn't tell you what the actual draught (the minimum amount of water needed to float a ship, and the dimension I think you wanted from your original question) for any aircraft carrier, let alone this one, and, um, I was just being snarky when I answered your question with my earlier comment, sorry.

between what does it varies? both in depth and mass?

That depends on the amount of water it displaces compared to the amount of mass it contains. In other words, it varies.

Looks like Palm Beach Inlet, but I know that's too shallow, and no place to go once inside....

Is this Fort Lauterdale, Miami; or am I wrong. (Because they have a very deep harbor, if I remember right...)
