In Canada, it's the same - no one can smoke in the car that has children.

I think here in Melbourne, that parents can't smoke in cars when their children are in them. We also have smoking banned in just about the same areas as Canada has...

I never smoked those. I quit smoking 24 years ago on the 3rd of August! When I started to smoke, it was very common...where I used to live. In Vancouver, you now cannot smoke in restaurants, bars, patios, office buildings, common areas in multiple dwellings, most beaches, etc. There are designated floors (the majority of floors) in hotels were there is no smoking. There is now talk about banning smoking on the streets, parks etc. Some rental property owners are now looking at making the whole buildings non-smoking.
