The Finns and Russians may have had good relations generally but during the winter of 1939-1940 they didn't. The Russians invaded and the Finns, seriously out-numbered and out-gunned, pretty much waxed the Russian's butts. In the end they ( the Finns ) had to cede a little land but they were able to keep the Russians from taking over their entire country.

Also, Canada does not have nukes; but, we do have nuclear reactors. It's used for nuclear medicine all over the world. That's cause we are goody-two-shoes ;-)

Finland and Russia (even when it was USSR) - always had good relationships. I don't blame Finland -they in the the same as Canada with the US. We are fleas living beside elephants. In Canada we say if the Americans sneeze we get pneumonia (economically). The only thing that saves us when the US had their economic meltdown is because Canada has a tight control over the banks - lots of laws and regulations.

Frank Zappa's criteria for being a real country..you had to have, at a minimum, a national airline, a beer, and a football team..some nuclear wepons were a plus but not absolutely necessary...if Finland has any few nukes hidden away they're mighty quiet about it, but they certainly have enough smart, well educated folks and a sufficiently high level of tech to put some together..If I lived that close to Russia I'd want the biggest stick I could carry : )

Thanks! Never flown Finncomm Airlines myself… There are several small airlines currently in operation but Finnair is the largest airline and the national flag carrier of Finland; it was established in 1923 and the largest owner is the Government of Finland.
