U. S. Navy pilots are so skilled they sometimes practice carrier landings flying backwards, as is pictured here. It's real hard to do these at night, however, and only about 85% of them can actually do it. One pilot trainee was seriously injured when he made a huge mistake, as demonstrated in this aircraft-to-ship communication: Pilot-to-ship: "How am I doing, sir?" Air controller-to-pilot: "NO! NO! I SAID "BACKWARD...NOT UPSIDEDOWN!" The poor Marine got in a lot of trouble. (So, can ya tell I'm ex-Navy? LOL)
