To Thirtyoughtsix: Where was the photo taken? To Pixdaus: As this is being written, I see that an informative comment has been voted down and hidden, while a wise-ass remark about it is not. Just shows how idiotic the voting system is, especially considering the apparent immaturity of many who vote. Let the photos and comments speak for themselves. If there must be voting, get rid of the negative voting. Also, it generally takes several (sometimes numerous) tries before the system will accept my comments, although I clearly enter the red symbol code correctly. Any suggestions on how to facilitate the process?

These appear to be corn stalks, cut and piled up to be used as fodder. This used to be common practice, back when virtually every farm family kept at least one or two milk cows. These days the more common practice is to mow the stalks down, then run over them and disc them back into the soil .
