Interesting comments, Connie. I don't think this downvoting procedure is at all fair. Perhaps premium users could be given the option of downvoting (or upvoting) by 1, 2 or 3 as they so choose instead of always by 3. But what bothers me the most is the users that make their decisions on matters other than the quality of the photo and this includes subject matter as well as the poster him/herself. I have noticed that photos of cats seem to do very well as do photos of attractive young women and of course their is nothing wrong with somebody voting these photos up, if this is what they like; however, should they vote down other photos simply because they don't like the subject matter?

We use Celsius here now. We changed to that in the 1970's. We also had pounds and pence for money, but we changed to dollars and cents in 1966. I was only 8 years old then. Yes, I'm getting all of those things, wrinkles, grey hair (only in tips though, natural of course) and yes not forgetting those aches and pains. Boy do THEY hurt !! And yes, when you've figured all that out, please let me know... :)

You use celsius like we do in Canada or fahrenheit? Childhood is not complicated; we think we will be forever young. Now, we face aches and pains, winkles and grey hair and what if, if only.... ;-) But, it has its good points too. When I have them figured out, I will get back to you ;-)

I think this downvoting thing is unfair. This site shouldn't be about competition. It should be about the beauty of the pictures that are posted. I come to this site to look at the pretty landscape pictures mainly, but I love to see photos of birds and cats and dogs too. And not forgetting horses as well. We are having much cooler days now. We had a very cold wind today and rather blowy too. The temps are in the low 70's Fahrenheit (21 Celsius) now and are to get up to the mid 20's Celsius by the end of the week, around 75 Fahrenheit) Our summer was hot and humid this time round, but not as hot as last summer when we had that awful 47 Celsius on Feb 7th 2009, which was around 117 Fahrenheit) Funny how you should talk about the trees blooming. It is only early autumn here and already, my daffodil spikes are coming up. I'm thinking, isn't that a touch too early for them to be growing ? I think it is. The schools went back at the end of January/early February. They broke up just before Christmas. They break up again around Easter time for a couple of weeks. They have 4 semesters a year. When I was a kid, I had 3 semesters. I liked that better than having 4 of them. I sometimes wish that I could be a child again. Sometimes, it's no fun being an adult. Some things in life are hard to put up with, like getting older for instance. Take care, Connie... :)

I was still on the site when I saw some of my uploads getting downvoted by 3 points right away - some were upvoted by balance things off ;-) Only premium users can vote up or down by 3 points. I have been targeted by some because I am outspoken, and some are competitive. How's the weather in Aussieland? We had a very warm winter - a month ahead for the trees blooming etc. So, you're heading towards autumn. When do Australian children get their summer holiday? In North America and Europe, it's July and August.

Does it matter if you did that, Connie ? You didn't mean to repost on purpose. And I haven't seen the photo that Artemis posted before. This is the first time I have seen this photo. On the subject of downvoting... why are your pics getting downvoted so much ? The pictures are really lovely and I can't understand why anyone would want to vote against them.....

Sorry folks...when a premium user downvoted half of my uploads, I doublechecked to see if any were reposts. I guess I forgot to check this one. It was already uploaded by artemis. So, go ahead and downvote it to oblivion ;-)
