You canīt vindicate one injustice (Dresden) with another (London, Rotterdam, the Holocaust).

...It's sad to know that such ignorance exists

Every one like picking on the Crusaders these day. Between 600 and 1000 Arab conquest had taken Egypt to Spain, Syria to Turkey and Iran to India and north of the Black sea. "The Book(conversion) the Tax (the Jizyah or Infidel tax) or the Sword(death)?" was the question they ask of the peoples that fell under their domain. Islam has inspired wonderful architecture but who do you think payed for it? If not for the Crusades which turned the tide in Spain, Southern Italy and the Middle East we'd be living in a very different world today.

Philip, Winston Churchill authorized bombing German cities only after the Germans started targeting London, and you are denying the more important Holocaust, where Shitler's SS and his other cronies committed genocide on over six million Jews and on a million more victims, most of them gypsies, homosexuals and anti-war protesters. Murder in war is still murder, but if you honestly think that you can compare the deaths of five hundred thousand Germans to the systematic uprooting, looting, and extermination of seven million victims and expect us to take you seriously, you are mistaken.

I see that Philip is back with usual mind-numbing ignorance. Germany invented the concept of bombing cities with the Zeppelin raids on UK cities in World War I. Sometimes I think Philip is pulling some kind of prank with his constant ignorance.

"Im Westen nichts Neues" is better known in english as "All Quiet On The Western Front" and it gave me the same feelings

Philp is also unaware of or prefers to ignore the Nazi bombing of the village of Guernica, in Spain...that happened in 1937..

We will never forget, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't forgive. All parties did their fair share of wrong.

@ Philip: Are you German? I am, and proud to be. And I am ashamed of reading this. Before talking about a bomb holocaust in Dresden, please grab a history book and read some... maybe about the bombing of Rotterdam by the Deutsche Luftwaffe in 1940 (5 years before the attack on Dresden), also known as the "Rotterdam Blitz". This was some days BEFORE the RAF was allowed to bomb civilian targets and in fact the reason for that order. Plus, there weren`t as many as 350.000 victims. SERIOUS literature talks about ~50k. Maybe you shouldn't read as much Nazi propaganda as you obviously did recently.

all wars are wrong, no matter who you kill: armed men, unarmed men, children, women and so on...

That's very true, BlayzeKohime, but we arrogantly 'believe' we are more civilised than our forebears. In the early part of the 20th century, there was general agreement between the major government of the world to limit warfare, including bombing raids, to military forces and infrastructures serving military purposes, and not to target civilians. Of course, with WWII Churchill gave the order, in violation of that agreement, to bomb German cities. Both Britain and America created the only holocaust of WWII by fire-bombing Dresden, in which it is estimated between 350,000 to 500,000 civilians perished in the inferno. The rest is history, most of which is totally fabricated by the Allies.

I agree that much war fought today is military versus civilian and very immoral, but do you honestly believe that no wars were fought where civilians died before? In ancient times, it was not uncommon to burn down an entire city and kill ~everyone~ in it upon winning a battle. The Crusades come to mind.

That was the real terror of trench warfare, with soldiers taking it in turns to have forty winks. But at that time the killing was between soldiers at war, not soldiers against unarmed civilians - babies, children and women, as in WWII and every war since. This means that the soldiers, including the politicians who authorise it, are brutal cowards.
